HANDLING AND RESTRAINT
Let animals become acclimated to laboratory personnel and the laboratory environment before experimentation or surgery. Give verbal rewards, petting and nourishing food treats for good behavior.
A tranquilizer should be used for stressful situations such as endoscopy, urinary tract catheterization and physical examinations if it will not interfere with the study. You must consult with the veterinarian for advice on use of tranquilizers.
