USDA regulations state that indoor housing facilities will be sufficiently heated to protect the cats from the cold and to provide for their health and comfort. The regulations also state that indoor housing temperature must not fall below 50 degrees F ( 10 degrees C ) for cats that are not acclimated to these lower temperatures. The USDA also states that auxiliary ventilation or air conditioning is required for when the temperature reaches 84 degrees F ( 29 degrees C).

The "Guide" recommends a temperature of 64 - 84 degrees F ( 18 - 29 degrees C ). and a relative humidity between 30 - 70%.
