There must be adequate ventilation to supply oxygen, remove thermal loads and reduce the concentration of infectious agents, odors and ammonia. Ventilation is important in controlling animal disease. Adequate ventilation also reduces the possibility of airborne pathogens.
Good ventilation is also important to worker health and comfort since high concentrations of ammonia cause respiratory irritation and many people are allergic to animal dander.
The "Guide" states that 10 - 15 air changes per hour will provide adequate ventilation.
