EXPERIMENTAL TECHNIQUES (cont)
Care must be taken in giving intraperitoneal (IP) injections to avoid puncturing the internal organs. Single IP injections can be made directly into the fish just anterior to the pelvic fins and along the midline of the fish. A needle size of 1 to 1.5 inches long and 18 to 23 gauge are generally recommended for this procedure.
