IDENTIFICATION AND RECORDS (cont)
Records for guinea pigs on experiment may be as simple as a cage card with hand written information or as complex as detailed information maintained in a computer database.
Information should show the source of the animals, sex, strain or stock, receipt date, protocol number and name and location of the responsible investigator. Consideration should also be given to adding genotype information.
The USDA requires certain records to be kept on guinea pigs such as shipping documents and experimental for the USDA annual report.
