HANDLING AND RESTRAINT

The docile nature of the guinea pig makes restraint of this animal simple.  The key to restraint is support.  One hand gently grasps from beneath the chest while the other hand is placed under the hindquarters for additional support.  This should provide adequate restraint for examinations and simple non-painful procedures.  Pregnant sows must have adequate hindquarter support.
