EXPERIMENTAL TECHNIQUES (cont)
For intradermal injections the skin of the back and flank is shaved or cleaned by close clipping and the use of a depilatory preparation. The skin is prepped with antiseptic solution, stretched tightly, and a small needle is inserted into the dermis. The material is injected from a tuberculin syringe using a 25 – 27 gauge needle so as to form a small blister or bleb.
