SANITATION
All areas in the animal facility should be cleaned and disinfected on a regular basis. This will help control disease within the colony and will reduce odors.
It is recommended that guinea pig rooms be mopped every day with an approved disinfectant solution. The USDAÂ requires that guinea pig caging be sanitized at least every two weeks and more frequently if conditions dictate. Sanitation can be achieved by cleaning the cage and then rinsing with 180 degree F. ( 82 degree C) water.
