For parenteral dosing, test materials are injected intramuscularly, subcutaneously, intraperitoneally or intravenously. Mice are generally excluded from intramuscular injections because they lack muscle mass.
Subcutaneous injection in the mouse
Subcutaneous injections are generally administered between the shoulder blades or in the flank. Slightly elevate the skin with your fingers and insert a small gauge needle just beneath the skin.
