PERSONAL PROTECTIVE EQUIPMENT

Protective Clothing

Protective clothing needs depend on the procedures being performed and the animals with which you are working. Uniforms can reduce the contact with animal urine and feces associated with routine tasks of husbandry. Surgery garb and laboratory gowns can also reduce the possibility of contact with biological specimens. Disposable clothing is also available that includes variations from wrap-around gowns to total coverage "bunny suits".

Various shoe types are available and consideration should be given to the use of steel-toe shoes when working with heavy objects and non-skid shoes when working in wet areas.
