ENVIRONMENTAL CONSIDERATIONS

The "Guide" recommends a minimum of 10 - 15 fresh air changes per hour within the animal room.  Supply and return vents should be located to provide uniform distribution of air throughout the room.

The "Guide" recommends relative humidity be controlled between 30 - 70% and temperatures for primates be maintained between 64 and 84 degrees F ( 18 - 29 degrees C ). - however many facilities prefer a setting of 70 -74 degrees F ( 21 -23 degrees C ).  Some species, especially New World monkeys, may require higher temperatures and humidity for optimal comfort.
