HOUSING AND SOCIAL NEEDS (cont)
When a rabbit is frightened, startled or aggressive it may forcefully strike the bottom of the cage with its powerful hind legs. This “thumping” or stamping may startle other rabbits and start a chain reaction of thumping. Therefore, keep the rabbit room as quiet as possible and don’t make sudden or loud noises. Rabbits respond well to gentle handling and quiet talking.
It is best to house adult laboratory rabbits one to a cage to prevent fighting.
