IDENTIFICATION AND RECORDS
Swine are generally identified with tattoos in the ear or numbered ear tags.

In commercial breeds it is also common for the animals to be identified by ear notching. Dye markers may be used for temporary identification.
Cage cards should be kept for each animal as well as individual health records that include veterinary preventative medicine procedures, treatments, animal maintenance practices, research procedures and disposition of the animal.
