HANDLING AND RESTRAINT
Swine are excitable and uncomfortable with some forms of restraint. Large animals may require special handling techniques or sedation for some procedures. Agricultural methods of restraint such as snout-snaring or hog-tying are stressful to animals.
Humane restraint slings have been developed to provide comfortable restraint off the floor. These devices may have a pulley and winch system for larger animals.
