EUTHANASIA
There are a number of humane methods of killing rats. One is over-exposure to CO2 . The animals should be placed in a chamber that has been charged with CO2. The animals should not be crowded into the chamber. Carbon dioxide euthanasia is the method of choice if tissues need to be collected for histopathological evaluation.
