HANDLING AND RESTRAINT
Goats respond to gentle treatment. Rough handling will make future handling and restraint more difficult. Goats are most easily restrained by holding the collar or halter and can be trained to lead. You should never grab a goat by the horns since horns may break or the animal may become more fractious.
Movement of goats to other rooms or areas may be facilitated by coaxing them into a carrier designed for transportation of small ruminants. Such carriers are equipped with a removable drop pan to prevent soiling of the floor with urine and feces.

Goats can be restrained for physical examination by gently placing your hands on their neck and shoulder areas or by use of a collar or halter.
