The space requirements for guinea pigs found in the USDA regulations and the recommendations of the Guide for the Care and Use of Laboratory Animals (the ‘Guide”) are identical. Regulations require that a guinea pig cage be at least 7 inches high.
Minimum floor space requirements are listed in the table below.
