Proposal Review and the IACUC
Although procedural review of proposals may vary among institutions, meeting procedures must be consistent with requirements of the PHS Policy or Animal Welfare Regulations (AWRs). Two methods recognized for initial proposal review and review of proposed significant changes in previously approved proposals are a full committee review and a designated member review.
Full committee review of proposals requires a convened meeting of a quorum of the IACUC members. Proposals reviewed by the full committee must receive the approval vote of a majority of the quorum present in order to receive approval.
