HOUSING AND SOCIAL NEEDS

Rabbit cages should be constructed of a non-rusting and corrosion resistant material that is easy to clean and sanitize. The best material is stainless steel but aluminum, magnesium and plastic are also acceptable.

Galvanized metal, while acceptable, is attacked by many of the urine scale removers used on rabbit caging. Once galvanized metal caging starts to rust it becomes much more difficult to clean and must be replaced or refurbished.
