IDENTIFICATION AND RECORDS (cont)

Cage cards, adhesive tape and other temporary methods of identification are less desirable since they can be easily removed by the dexterous primate. No matter which method is used - the number must coincide with the contained animal's permanent ID or tattoo.

The USDA requires that records of acquisition, disposition and transport of primates be maintained for at least one year. Health certificates also must accompany these forms

In addition you should keep certain records such as breeding information and medical records including surgical procedures and post-operative care.
